# Screwtape.ai Terms of Service (version 2026-10-24)

## Who we are and who these terms are for

These terms are an agreement between you and Screwtape.ai ("we", "us"), the operator of screwtape.ai, its API, its MCP server and its website (the "Service"). Contact: screwtapedev@gmail.com.

The Service is built for businesses and developers. By creating an API key, paying, or calling the API, you confirm that you use the Service for your trade, business, craft or profession, and, if you accept for an organisation, that you may bind it. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer law in your country still applies and nothing in these terms limits it.

Version 2026-10-24. We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date. For paid plans, a material change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.

## What the Service does and does not do

The Service returns automated verdicts (pass, fail, retry, approve, review or block style results), scores, reasons, duplicate-invoice signals and signed receipts about content you send. Verdicts are produced by AI models and deterministic checks. They can be wrong, incomplete or inconsistent.

The Service is a decision aid. It does not approve, release, or make payments, it is not a payment service, and it is not legal, tax, accounting, audit or financial advice. You remain responsible for every payment and decision your systems or people make, and for keeping appropriate human review and controls in place.

A signed receipt shows what was checked, when, and what verdict was returned. It does not show that the verdict was correct.

## Accounts and API keys

Keep your API keys secret. Anyone with a key can use it and spend its credits. We store only a hash of each key, so we cannot recover a lost key. You are responsible for activity under your keys until you delete or revoke them.

Free keys have a daily quota as published on the pricing page. We may change free quotas, and we may suspend keys that abuse the Service.

## Prices, packs and plans

Prices are in U.S. dollars and are shown on /pricing/ and in /pricing.json at the time you buy. Taxes, if any apply, are added or collected as required by law.

Prepaid packs are one-time purchases of call credits. They do not renew. Unused credits do not expire while the key exists, and they are deleted with the key.

Plans (Team and Finance Control) are subscriptions billed through PayPal, monthly or yearly. A plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. Usage above the included calls is charged at the overage rate shown on the plan page, up to the published cap.

You can cancel a plan at any time at /plans/cancel/ with your API key, by POST /v1/plans/cancel, or in PayPal under automatic payments. Cancellation stops future renewals. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and then the key returns to the free tier. We do not give partial refunds for unused time in a period except where the law requires it or we say so in writing.

If a renewal payment fails, we may keep the plan active for a short grace period and then suspend plan features until payment succeeds.

## Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to break the law or anyone's rights; to process data you have no right to process; to send malware or attack, probe, overload or bypass the limits or security of the Service; to resell raw access as a competing service without written permission; to make fully automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without human review where the law requires it; or for anything related to weapons, surveillance of individuals, or evading sanctions.

Do not send special-category personal data (health, biometrics, religion, and similar) or payment card numbers in judged content. Send only the personal data you need for the check.

We may suspend or end access that breaks these rules, puts the Service or others at risk, or is required by law.

## Sanctions and export controls

You confirm that you are not located in, organised in, or ordinarily resident in a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions (currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine), and that you are not on, or owned or controlled by anyone on, a U.S., EU or UN sanctions list. We block access from those regions and we refuse USDC payments from addresses on the OFAC SDN list.

## Your content and data

You keep all rights in the content you send and in the results. You give us the limited right to process that content to provide the Service, as described in the privacy notice and, for business customers, the Data Processing Addendum at /dpa/, which forms part of these terms when you process personal data through the Service.

We do not use your content to train models unless your key turns on opt-in data sharing.

## Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Any availability figure we publish is a target, not a guarantee, and it carries no service credits unless a signed order says otherwise. We may change or retire features; for paid plans we will give reasonable notice of a material reduction.

## Warranty disclaimer

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will catch every error, duplicate or fraudulent invoice.

## Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or for payments made or not made, even if we were told they were possible.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in those 12 months and 100 U.S. dollars.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or wilful misconduct.

## Indemnity

If you use the Service for a business, you will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content, your payments or decisions, or your breach of these terms or the law.

## Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Service and delete your keys at any time with DELETE /v1/keys/me. We may end these terms or suspend access for material breach, non-payment, legal requirements, or if we stop offering the Service, in which case we will refund prepaid amounts for service not provided. Sections that by their nature should survive (payment owed, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity) survive.

## General

These terms, the privacy notice, the DPA and any order you sign with us are the whole agreement about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor of our business. Notices to us go to screwtapedev@gmail.com.

Governing law and courts are those of the place where Screwtape.ai is established, unless mandatory law gives you the right to sue in your own courts.
